IN THE EAST
Design of an apartment inspired by the Far Eastern art
The bathroom features a bathtub, a simple and minimalist design, with storage space hidden next to the toilet. The glass blocks, of course, are a striking feature, creating an interesting visual effect.
The hallway also features a large wardrobe, and custom-made doors for individual rooms echo the window panels, lending a Far Eastern feel to the apartment.
The bedroom and bathroom are connected – a wall of green glass blocks between them adds a touch of natural light to the bathroom.
The bedroom is simple, respecting the sleep ritual, but with ample storage space, subtly concealed. The bedroom also has room for a large wardrobe, which the investor built himself and wanted to add to the new apartment.
A bold decorative element, lending a Far Eastern touch, are sliding screens made of wood and paper, imitating the traditional windows of some Far Eastern buildings.
The investor also has a small dog, which he wanted to incorporate into the apartment's functionality – hence the inclusion of a dedicated space for dog bowls in the kitchen.
The apartment's living room and kitchenette are a bright, open space dominated by wood accents, and the eye-catching display is an unusual shelf behind the television, inspired by Korean architecture. The kitchen has a Japanese-inspired design, with a countertop made of conglomerate imitating green granite, echoing the greenery throughout the apartment.
A key room for the investor was the study, which boasted ample storage space and a comfortable desk for working at a computer. Decorated with Far Eastern influences.
Due to the different histories of each country and how they shaped the visual aspects of tradition, we agreed with the investor that the inspiration would be quite general, based on Japandi and wabi-sabi styles, but with decorative touches requested by the investor.
The resulting interior is bright, filled with warm wood and neutral colors. Greenery served as a color accent – on the sofa upholstery, countertops, and glass blocks between the bedroom and bathroom.
In a town near Wrocław, a certain interesting investor decided to furnish his apartment in an unusual way – as a lover of Far Eastern culture, he wanted the interior to refer to the traditions of countries such as Korea, Japan, and China.
