IN THE CLOUDS
Additionally, the apartment is located in a complex of investment and recreational buildings by the lake, so competition for rentals is fierce. Therefore, we wanted to establish a theme that would make the apartment stand out. The irregular high ceilings, the apartment's layout, and the investor's taste led to the idea of an open-air apartment!
We designed (and later created) a mural depicting a blue sky and clouds on the large, sloping ceiling. We added touches of blue to the walls and furniture, as well as other cloud-like accents.
Photos of the finished apartment can be seen on the website of the carpentry company that made the custom-made furniture.
In the developer's standard, the apartment's height and unusual ceiling shape were the most striking. The apartment was divided by a large beam, with a high, sloping ceiling in the part near the large windows, providing space for a mezzanine with a small bedroom. Closer to the entrance, in the less sunny part, two rooms were created – the kitchen and the hallway – with high ceilings and sloping ceilings, but also narrow and dark. We sometimes call these rooms "wells." The developer planned a bathroom in the middle of the apartment's width, and the investor didn't want to change this layout.
In a major development in Polish Silesia, we were tasked with designing a mixed-use investment and vacation apartment. The investor, who purchased the property, planned to rent it out and spend time there herself. The design brief, therefore, included a cozy and easy-to-clean layout, yet also tailored to the investor's personal taste.
